I could definitely see sheep/goats sitting in the hay feeder...our cats do! For the feeder you have now, you might try attaching some chicken wire or something similar to the bottom...it won't help keep them clean, but at least no hay will fall out of the bottom. It is really easy to do. At our previous farm we had trays for feed, and I loved them. Luckily all of our "pigs" have since been sold, so I can safely use the plastic bins. But they definitely aren't a good idea if you have a llama that eats fast and is prone to choke. It's always so scary, I'm very sorry to hear that you lost one. It is never easy.Emalyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02838072904377154759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7354357533386022583.post-54019341464900558402012-02-12T19:10:21.304-05:002012-02-12T19:10:21.304-05:00Thank you for posting this. I read about a box fee...Thank you for posting this. I read about a box feeder like that, but didn't really understand what they were saying, now that I see the picture it makes perfect sense. We may have to try that, although I can already envision my sheep jumping in it. The feeder we are using now is similar to the TSC one, and you are right it wastes a lot of hay.

We got rid of the plastic grain bins. I lost a llama at the beginning of the year and I blame them for it. We're using a wooden tray now.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17995851593213427196noreply@blogger.com
